Supexa-OD 60 Tablet is an oral anticoagulant indicated to prevent stroke and blood clots in nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and treat deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. It inhibits Factor Xa, an essential enzyme in the formation of a clot.
For maximum protection against stroke or clot recurrence, Supexa-OD 60 Tablet should be taken as directed, at the same time each day. Stopping the medication abruptly or skipping doses could raise the risk of dangerous blood clots. When a dose is forgotten, take it as soon as possible on the same day, but avoid doubling up. Follow-up visits and checks for signs of bleeding or clotting should be conducted during therapy.
Common side effects of Supexa-OD 60 Tablet include bleeding, rash, anemia, and increased liver tests. If you have concerns about these effects or experience any unusual symptoms, consult your doctor for guidance.
Supexa-OD 60 Tablet is contraindicated in patients with pathologically active bleeding, including gastrointestinal bleeding or recent hemorrhagic stroke. It must not be administered in patients with a mechanical heart valve or in moderate to severe mitral stenosis since it is not established in its safety and effectiveness in these conditions. Caution is exercised in patients with severe renal impairment or hepatic illness with coagulopathy, in whom bleeding risk is higher. Supexa-OD 60 Tablet must not also be started in patients with CrCl >95 mL/min when given for nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, as a decrease in the efficacy of preventing stroke exists.
Deep vein thrombosis is the formation of blood clots in deep veins, usually in the legs. These clots can cause swelling, pain, and may travel to the lungs, leading to serious complications. After an initial course of injectable anticoagulants, Supexa-OD 60 Tablet is used to help prevent new clots and reduce the chances of DVT recurrence.
In Prevention of Pulmonary embolism
Pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery in the lungs, often originating from a DVT. This can lead to chest pain, breathing difficulty, and even be life-threatening. Supexa-OD 60 Tablet, after initial injectable therapy, works by preventing further clot formation, reducing the risk of recurrent PE, and supporting safer recovery.
In Stroke prevention
Some strokes are caused by blood clots that form due to an irregular heartbeat not related to heart valve problems (nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, or NVAF). Supexa-OD 60 Tablet is used to prevent these types of strokes by reducing the risk of clot formation in the blood.

How Supexa Tablet works
Supexa-OD 60 Tablet is a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) that acts to selectively block Factor Xa, a central enzyme involved in the coagulation cascade of the blood. Inhibiting Factor Xa prevents the conversion of prothrombin into thrombin, which is required for clot formation. This prevents the formation of dangerous blood clots in diseases such as nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. Its targeted action ensures effective anticoagulation with consistent outcomes and fewer risks of specific bleeding complications than conventional blood thinners.
