How to use Stopache Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Stopache Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Avoid Stopache Tablet with caffeine and chocolate as well as food containing caffeine and chocolate such as tea leaves, cocoa beans.

How Stopache Tablet works

Stopache Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Caffeine and Paracetamol/Acetaminophen. Caffeine narrows the blood vessels in the brain to reduce headache. Paracetamol/Acetaminophen is an analgesic (pain reliever) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain. Together, they relieve headache effectively.

Stopache Tablet related warnings

Taking Caffeine+Paracetamol/Acetaminophen with alcohol can cause liver damage.
Stopache Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Stopache Tablet should be used with caution during lactation. Breast feeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.
Stopache Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Stopache Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Stopache Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, Stopache Tablet contains paracetamol which is considered the safest painkiller for kidney disease patients.
Stopache Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Stopache Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Stopache Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

Q. What is the rationale behind using caffeine with paracetamol?

Caffeine is often combined with paracetamol because it increases the effectiveness of paracetamol.

Q. What if I overdose on Stopache?

Contact your doctor immediately even if you feel well. An overdose of Stopache can cause serious liver damage. Symptoms of liver damage are fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, dark urine, and yellow skin or eyes.

Q. What is the recommended dose of Stopache?

The recommended doses for adults and children are different. Adults should take 1-2 tablets every 4 hours. Do not take more than 8 tablets a day. Whereas, children should be given 1 tablet every 4 hours. Do not give more than 4 tablets a day.

Q. Can I take Stopache for headache everyday?

Avoid using Stopache for more than 2-3 days per week for headache. Its overuse can instead lead to the occurrence of a medicine-overuse headache.

Q. What are the instructions for the storage and disposal of Stopache?

Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.

Q. Can the use of Stopache cause damage to the liver?

Stopache contains paracetamol. This medicine is known to cause harm to the liver in high doses. Also, avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may further increase your risk of liver damage. Use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with the underlying liver disease. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any early signs and symptoms of liver damage. These symptoms may include fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, dark urine, yellow skin or eyes and abnormal liver enzymes.
