How Salbazone Powder for Injection works
Salbazone 1gm/0.5gm Injection is a combination of two medicines: Cefoperazone and Sulbactam. Cefoperazone is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefoperazone against bacteria.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Salbazone 1gm/0.5gm Injection may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Pregnancy
PROBABLY SAFE
Salbazone 1gm/0.5gm Injection is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
SAFE
Salbazone 1gm/0.5gm Injection is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
Driving
It is not known whether Salbazone 1gm/0.5gm Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney

Q. Can the use of Salbazone cause nausea and vomiting?
Yes, the use of Salbazone can cause nausea and vomiting. Taking it with milk, food or with antacids can prevent nausea. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods along with this medication. In case of vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids by taking small frequent sips. Talk to your doctor if vomiting persists and you notice signs of dehydration like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicine without speaking to your doctor.
Q. Can the use of Salbazone cause diarrhea?
Yes, the use of Salbazone can cause diarrhea. Antibiotics can kill the good and helpful bacteria present in your stomach or intestine and cause diarrhea. In case of diarrhea, drink plenty of water or other fluids. Talk to your doctor if diarrhea persists and you notice any signs of dehydration like less urination with dark coloured and strong-smelling urine. Do not take any other medicine without consulting a doctor.
Q. Can I stop taking Salbazone when my symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop taking Salbazone and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
