Retense Capsule


Overview

Introduction

Retense Capsule is a pain relieving medicine. It is used to treat acute and chronic pain associated with various conditions such as muscle pain, headache, nerve pain, postoperative pain, and menstrual cramps. It is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Retense Capsule can be taken with or without food. In general, you should try to use the smallest amount necessary to control your symptoms, for the shortest possible time. You should take this medicine regularly while you need it. Try not to miss doses as this will make the medicine less effective.

Some of the common side effects of this medicine include fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, dryness in mouth, and abdominal bloating. If any of these side effects do not go away or get worse, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the symptoms.

To make sure it is safe for you, before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions or disorders. You should also tell your doctor all the other medicines you are using or taking. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before using this medicine.

What if you forget to take Retense Capsule?

If you miss a dose of Retense Capsule, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. Is Retense beneficial in the treatment of fibromyalgia?

Yes, Retense is seen to be beneficial in the treatment of fibromyalgia in some clinical studies, however, Retense is yet to get formal regulatory approval for this condition. Fibromyalgia is a disease that is characterized by musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and depression.

Q. What is the benefit of using Retense with paracetamol?

Both Retense and paracetamol help in relieving pain but they work in entirely different ways. When paracetamol is given with Retense, pain relief is better as compared to single drug use. However, both can cause liver toxicity, so monitoring of liver function is very important when taken together.

Q. Does Retense cause liver toxicity?

Yes, Retense causes liver toxicity. Use of Retense is contraindicated in patients with an underlying liver disease.

Q. Can Retense be used for the treatment of osteoarthritis pain?

Retense can be used for the relief of pain associated with osteorthritis and post orthopedic surgery pain. It is especially useful for patients who cannot take NSAIDs because of the risk of NSAID-induced gastritis.

Q. Does use of Retense cause green discoloration of urine?

There have been case reports that Retense causes green discoloration of urine. However, this is not a very commonly seen effect. Inform your doctor if you experience this symptom.

Q. Is Retense useful in the treatment of epilpesy?

Retense is not approved for the treatment of epilepsy. However, a few animal studies have shown a beneficial effect of Retense for treating epilepsy and this effect is still being explored.

Q. Would I experience any withdrawal symptoms once I stop using Retense?

Yes, you can experience withdrawal symptoms once you stop using Retense like sweating, tremor, and mood alterations with long term use of Retense. Inform your doctor if you have these symptoms.
