Uses

Renicol 1% ointment is used in the treatment of bacterial infections and eye and ear infection.

How it works

Chloramphenicol belongs to the class of medications called as antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis and subsequently the growth of bacteria that are sensitive to it, thereby removing the infection of the eye surface and eyelids.

Acne-like rash, Allergic reaction, Itching, Hives, Application site redness of skin, Application site irritation

Expert advice for RENICOL

Do not apply on affected eye for more than 5 days without consulting a doctor.
Seek advice from your doctor before using chloramphenicol ointment, if you wear contact lenses. 
Treatment should be continued for at least 48 hours after the eye appears normal. Inform your doctor if symptoms do not disappear after 48 hours of use.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to chloramphenicol or any of its ingredients.
Do not take this medicine if you have a personal or family history of blood dyscrasias (disease of the blood characterized by abnormal blood cells).
