Your child’s medicine at a glance

Give Raymox Kid Tablet either with or without food but it is best to give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.

Raymox Kid Tablet can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects should ideally subside on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.

Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episodes of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help the dose make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

Uses of Raymox Kid Tablet in children

Benefits of Raymox Kid Tablet for your child

Treatment of Bacterial infections
Raymox Kid Tablet is a medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. These infections may include otitis media (ear infection), sinusitis (sinus infection), tonsillitis (infection of tonsils), dental abscess (tooth infection), pneumonia (lung infection), cellulitis (skin infection), and urinary tract infection. The presence of probiotics reduces the chance of side effects like stomach upset or diarrhea in your child which may occur due to the prolonged intake of antibiotics.

Raymox Kid Tablet is also given for several infections that are suspected to be caused by the bacteria but the type of bacteria is not known (empirical therapy). Usually, children start to feel better within 2-3 days of regular dosing. Make sure to finish the recommended course of the medicine as stopping the medicine abruptly may lead to ineffective treatment or worsen your child’s condition.

Side effects of Raymox Kid Tablet in children

Raymox Kid Tablet does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

How can I give Raymox Kid Tablet to my child?

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Raymox Kid Tablet should be taken with or after food.

How Raymox Tablet works

Raymox Kid Tablet is an antibiotic with a probiotic agent. Amoxycillin, the antibiotic, works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. This action aids in killing the infection-causing bacteria and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment. The other agent, lactobacillus, helps prevent side effects such as diarrhea by restoring the balance of healthy bacteria in your child’s gut.

Quick tips

  • Complete the entire course of antibiotics without stopping the medicine in between. Doing so may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Conditions like the common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
  • Give Raymox Kid Tablet to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as it is impossible to judge whether the same medicine would work for any future illnesses.
  • Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Frequently asked questions

Although rare, Raymox Kid Tablet may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, and allergy. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Raymox Kid Tablet can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Raymox Kid Tablet.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they fully recover from the illness. Post recovery from illness, the child can take the vaccine after consulting the doctor.
In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.
No, do not give this medicine to your child in this case as a high percentage of children with infectious mononucleosis develop a skin rash (erythematous rash) while taking Raymox Kid Tablet.
