Uses of Glycopyrrolate

Glycopyrrolate is used in Anaesthesia.

Side effects of Glycopyrrolate


Visual disturbance, Reduced sweating, Irregular heartbeats, Dry mouth, Nausea, Vomiting, Dry skin, Photophobia, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Giddiness, Difficulty in urination, Confusion.

How Pyrotroy Neo Injection works

Glycopyrrolate belongs to a class of medications called anticholinergics. It decreases the secretions in the mouth, throat, airways and stomach acid.

Uses of Neostigmine

Neostigmine is used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, post-operative urinary retention and reversal of effect of skeletal muscle relaxant after surgery.

Side effects of Neostigmine


Nausea, Vomiting, Abdominal cramp, Diarrhoea, Excessive salivation.

Expert advice for Glycopyrrolate

  • Inform your doctor if you have any heart disease, heart failure, irregular heartbeats or high blood pressure as glycopyrrolate is known to increase the heart rate (tachycardia).
  • Glycopyrrolate should be used with caution if you have medical conditions such as myasthenia gravis (progressive neuromuscular disease characterized by weak muscles and unusual tiredness), glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye that causes vision problem), overactive thyroid gland, enlarged prostate gland, obstruction of the stomach or bowel causing vomiting  abdominal pain, chronic constipation and swelling.
  • Glycopyrrolate should be used with special precautions in case of fever as it may worsen the condition.
  • Avoid alcohol or any medication that may cause drowsiness. 
  • Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
  • Do not take if allergic to glycopyrrolate or any of its ingredients.

  • You may need to stop using the medicine for a short time in case of a surgery.
  • Use neostigmine with caution if you have epilepsy, bronchial asthma, bradycardia, recent coronary occlusion, vagotonia, hyperthyroidism, cardiac arrhythmias, peptic ulcer.
  • Avoid taking large doses of neostigmine in situations where there might be an increased absorption rate from the intestinal tract. Use with caution when neostigmine is given along with anticholinergic drugs because of decreased GI motility.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery as neostigmine can cause blurred vision or impaired thinking.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking neostigmine as it may worsen the side effects.
  • Take precautions while taking neostigmine as over dosage of neostigmine can cause extreme muscle weakness.

Pyrotroy Neo Injection may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Pyrotroy Neo Injection may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Pyrotroy Neo Injection is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Long-term use of Pyrotroy Neo Injection might reduce milk production.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.

Pyrotroy Neo Injection may affect vision and coordination. This may affect your driving ability.
Pyrotroy Neo Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Pyrotroy Neo Injection may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Regular monitoring of kidney function test and some blood tests may advised while you are taking this medicine.
Pyrotroy Neo Injection is probably safe to use in patients w
ith liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Pyrotroy Neo Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
