Etodolac is used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

How it works

Etodolac belongs to a class of medicine called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Etodolac exerts a lasting analgesic and an anti-inflammatory effect as it reduces the production of pain stimulating chemicals (prostaglandins) by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX).

How it works

Paracetamol belongs to class of medications called analgesics (painkiller) and antipyretics (fever reducing). Paracetamol reduces pain by increasing the pain threshold. It reduces fever by acting on the temperature-regulating region of brain, resulting in increased blood flow across the skin, sweating and heat loss.

Etodolac may cause dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue and visual. If affected, patients should not drive or operate machinery. Consult your doctor before you take etodolac.
  • If you are suffering from kidney, liver or heart failure or high blood pressure of fluid retention.
  • If you are suffering from GI bleeding, ulceration or perforation or with GI conditions such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease.
  • If you are suffering from asthma or other breathing difficulties.
  • If you are at a child bearing age and planning to get pregnant or are breast feeding.
People who take etodolac may have a higher risk of having a heart attack or a stroke than people who do not take these medications. These events may happen without warning and may cause death. This risk may be higher for people who take NSAIDs for a long time. Tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family has or has ever had heart disease, a heart attack, or a stroke, if you smoke, and if you have or have ever had high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes.
