How to use Otofast Eye Drop

This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

How Otofast Eye Drop works

Otofast Eye Drop is a combination of two medicines: Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic which prevents bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. This treats your eye infection. Dexamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.

Q. What is Otofast?
The Otofast is a combination of two medicines: Ciprofloxacin and Dexamethasone. It is used to treat bacterial infections of eye. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria in the eye by preventing them from reproducing and repairing themselves. This treats your infection. Dexamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.
Q. Is it safe to use Otofast?
Yes, Otofast is safe to use in most of the patients. However, in some patients it may cause some unwanted common side effects like eye irritation, eye discomfort and other uncommon and rare side effect. Inform your doctor if you experience any persistent problem due to the medication.
Q. What are the precaution to be taken while using eye drops
Before using ciprofloxacin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other quinolones (e.g., levofloxacin, moxifloxacin); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients (such as preservatives like benzalkonium chloride), which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Yes, the use of Otofast can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down for sometime or until you feel better and do not drive or use any machines.
Q. Does Otofast expire?
Yes, Otofast does expire. Please check the expiry date written on the pack of this medicine. However, after opening the Otofast, the drops are safe for the eye for a period of 28 days. Always record the date eye drops are opened and do not use them after 28 days.
Q. How long you have to wait between eye drops?
If you are putting in more than one drop or more than one type of eye drop, wait five minutes before putting the next drop in. This will keep the first drop from being washed out by the second before it has had time to work.
