How Orahex M Gel works

Orahex M 0.25%/0.01% Gel is a combination of two medicines: Chlorhexidine Gluconate and Metronidazole Topical. Chlorhexidine Gluconate is an antiseptic and disinfectant. It works by binding to the surface of teeth, inner cheeks and gums. This kills the infectious microorganisms that cause gum disease, tartar and other mouth infections. Metronidazole Topical is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA.

Orahex M 0.25%/0.01% Gel is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
The baby's skin should not come into direct contact with the treated area of skin. Water-miscible cream/gel is preferred as ointments may expose the baby to harmful effects of Orahex M 0.25%/0.01% Gel via licking.
Driving

Kidney
