How to use Nicospas Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nicospas Tablet may be taken with or without food.

How Nicospas Tablet works

Nicospas Tablet is a combination of two medicines: dicyclomine and paracetamol, which help relieve abdominal pain and cramps. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic that relaxes the muscles in the stomach and intestines. It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms), thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) that works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers responsible for pain.

Quick tips

  • Do not take Nicospas Tablet with other medicines containing paracetamol (such as some cold or fever medicines) unless advised by your doctor.
  • Nicospas Tablet may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Avoid alcohol while taking Nicospas Tablet, as it may increase drowsiness and stomach-related side effects.
  • Dry mouth may occur while using Nicospas Tablet; drinking water, frequent mouth rinsing, and maintaining good oral hygiene may help.
  • Stay well hydrated, as antispasmodic medicines may worsen constipation in some people.
  • Seek medical advice if abdominal pain is severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever, vomiting, or blood in the stool.
  • Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma, urinary retention, enlarged prostate, or bowel obstruction before taking Nicospas Tablet.
  • Stop the medicine and seek medical help if you develop rash, swelling of the face, or breathing difficulty.
  • Consult your doctor if cramps keep recurring or pain worsens instead of improving.

Frequently asked questions

Nicospas Tablet is used to relieve abdominal pain and stomach cramps, especially when the pain is caused by intestinal spasms. It contains dicyclomine and paracetamol. Dicyclomine helps relax the muscles of the stomach and intestines, while paracetamol reduces pain signals. Together, they help relieve cramping and improve comfort.
Nicospas Tablet may cause side effects in some people, although many tolerate it well. Common effects include nausea, dry mouth, dizziness, sleepiness, weakness, blurred vision, or diarrhea. Stop the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe rash, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, fainting, or persistent vomiting.
Nicospas Tablet is usually used for short-term relief of abdominal cramps and may be stopped once the pain improves. However, if your doctor has advised you to continue it for a specific duration, follow their instructions.
No, taking more than the recommended dose of Nicospas Tablet may increase the risk of side effects. If your pain is not relieved with the prescribed dose or becomes worse, consult your doctor instead of increasing the dose on your own.
Nicospas Tablet is generally safe when taken in the prescribed dose and duration, but it may not be suitable for everyone. People with allergy to its ingredients, severe liver disease, kidney problems, or alcohol dependency should use it cautiously. It should also be used carefully during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
If you miss a dose of Nicospas Tablet, take the next planned dose at the usual time unless your doctor advises otherwise. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Nicospas Tablet is often easier on the stomach when taken after food, especially if you experience acidity or stomach irritation. Follow your doctor’s advice regarding the timing of doses.
Nicospas Tablet should not be combined with other pain medicines without consulting your doctor because many products may contain similar ingredients. Taking multiple medicines with the same ingredients may increase the risk of side effects.
The number of doses of Nicospas Tablet per day depends on your doctor’s prescription and the severity of your symptoms. Do not change the dose or frequency on your own without medical advice.
Nicospas Tablet may start relieving abdominal cramps within a short time after taking it, but the exact timing can vary depending on the severity of symptoms and individual response.
