Product introduction

New Sumo Cold Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. It is better to take it with food to avoid stomach upset. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, dryness in mouth, restlessness, fatigue, and insomnia. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It can also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can make dizziness worse.

Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How Sumo Cold Tablet works

New Sumo Cold Tablet is combination of four medicines: Caffeine, Cetirizine, Paracetamol and Phenylephrine. Cetirizine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and an antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and fever. Caffeine is a stimulant which increases the effectiveness of Paracetamol and decreases sleepiness due to Cetirizine. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing temporary relief from stuffiness in the nose.

  • New Sumo Cold Tablet is prescribed to get relief from symptoms of common cold.
  • Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications for cold.
  • Call your doctor if your symptoms have not improved within seven days of treatment or if you develop a fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat, severe dizziness or anxiety, severe headache, fever, or rash.

    1. Steam inhalation 
    2. Gargling with warm saltwater.
    3. Apply vapor rubs on chest, back if needed. Take enough rest.
    4. Take warm food and fluid only. Ensure adequate fluid intake.
    5. Advise hygiene measures to reduce spread: frequent hand-washing, avoiding sharing towels, pillowcase, etc.

Yes, use of New Sumo Cold Tablet should be avoided if you have high blood pressure (hypertension), any underlying serious heart condition or cardiovascular disorder, any history of stomach ulcers or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). However, it can be taken if your doctor is aware of your conditions and advises you to take it. The use of New Sumo Cold Tablet should also be avoided if you are taking antidepressant drugs. These drugs, called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), may include phenelzine and isocarboxazid or tricyclic antidepressants like imipramine and amitriptyline.
No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using New Sumo Cold Tablet. This medicine contains Cetirizine, an antihistamine which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your doctor if you are advised to take this medicine while you are breastfeeding the baby.
