Migrellium-Pro Capsule

Overview

Introduction

Migrellium-Pro Capsule is a combination of two medicines that helps in preventing migraine. This medicine is not used for treatment of acute migraine attack.

Migrellium-Pro Capsule should be taken on empty stomach, but try to have it same time regularly at a fixed time preferably at night. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. Lifestyle modifications like avoiding stress, smoking, and processed food items may help this medicine work better.

Few common side effects of this medicine include weight gain, slow heart rate, tiredness, depression, drowsiness and cold extremities. It may cause sleepiness so try not to drive or do anything that requires mental focus or rise slowly while from sitting position. The drug has the ability to hide the symptoms of the blood sugar level, hence monitor your blood sugar level regularly as well as blood pressure while taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney, or depression disease, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

How to cope with side effects?

The occurrence of side effects varies from person to person. The following are a few ways of dealing with some of the common side effects. However, consult your doctor if these persist.

  • Coping with Weight gain
Try to eat a healthy balanced diet without increasing your portion sizes. Avoid processed meat or poultry and seafood. Eat small, frequent meals and eat slowly. Do not snack on foods that contain a lot of calories such as crisps, cakes, biscuits and sweets. If you feel hungry between meals, eat fruits and vegetables which have low calories. Avoid reaching for a sugary drink if you feel stressed. Fasting once a week can be an effective way to lose weight. Make sure you get enough sleep. With proper diet and lifestyle changes, you might not gain any weight or may gain only a small amount. Even then if it bothers you, ask your doctor if there are any alternative medicines that do not have this side effect.
  • Coping with Slow heart rate
Splash your face with cold water and breathe deeply. This will help you to relax. Exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet and maintain a healthy weight. Manage your blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. Limit your alcohol intake or drink in moderation, do not smoke and manage your stress levels. If your condition does not improve, speak to your doctor as you may be offered a different type of medicine.
  • Coping with Tiredness
Make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. Eat a well-balanced diet to keep your energy levels up. Do not drink too much alcohol. Do not drive or use tools or machinery until you feel better. Other things that can help include doing some gentle exercise every day, prioritizing and pacing your activities and having a short nap if you need to. If you are still having problems after a week, speak to your doctor, as they may want to change you to a different type of medicine.
  • Coping with Depression
It is important to talk to your doctor if you think you may be depressed. The sooner you do this, the sooner you can recover. Treatment for depression can involve a combination of lifestyle changes, talking therapies (such as counseling and cognitive behavioral therapy) and medicines (antidepressants). There are many things you can do for yourself if your depression is not too severe. Exercise is an extremely effective treatment for depression, so make sure you keep as active as possible. It can really lift your mood. A healthy diet can also make a big difference to your mood (as well as improving your physical health). Mindfulness is a technique that many people find helpful. It may be tempting to smoke or drink alcohol, but both will make things worse in the long run. Try talking to a friend or family member even if you do not feel comfortable doing this. Get into a routine with regular sleep patterns and meals. If you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Coping with Drowsiness
If the medicine is making you drowsy during the day, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down until you feel better. You can also consider taking a nap. Physical exercises such as walking may be helpful. Do not drink alcohol, as it will make you feel more tired. Avoid driving or operating heavy equipment when you are feeling drowsy. This problem usually goes away as your body gets used to the medicine. However, if it does not, ask your doctor if you can take your medicine at bedtime or whether the dose can be reduced.
  • Coping with Abnormal dreams
Try taking your medicine in the morning. If you have to take it more than once a day, speak to your doctor. To help yourself, try to go to bed and get up at the same time each day and reduce naps. Do some light exercise each day to tire yourself. Make sure the room is not too hot or too cold. Relax before bedtime by taking a bath or listening to music. Don't go to bed hungry. Try using earplugs. Meditation, deep breathing and relaxation exercises can also help. Talk to your doctor if you have tried these tips and they have not helped.
  • Coping with Cold extremities
Keep your hands and feet warm by wearing gloves and warm socks. Try massaging and putting your hands or feet under warm water. Do not smoke or have drinks with caffeine as these can restrict blood flow to your hands and feet.
