Overview

Introduction

Kuff Q NF Tablet is used to treat common cold symptoms. It relieves runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, and congestion. It thins and loosens the mucus in the nose and windpipe, making it easier to cough out.

Kuff Q NF Tablet also blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for pain and fever. Take Kuff Q NF Tablet in the dose and duration advised by the doctor. In case you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If you have suffered or are currently suffering from any stomach, liver, or kidney disease, inform your doctor before you start taking this medicine.

It may cause side effects like rash, nausea, irritation in ear, and headache. It may also cause dizziness as a side effect, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus. Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may worsen your side effects.

How to use Kuff Q NF Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Kuff Q NF Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.

How Kuff Q NF Tablet works

Kuff Q NF Tablet is a combination of five medicines: Bromhexine, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine and Paracetamol/Acetaminophen. Bromhexine and Guaifenesin help in the removal of mucus (phlegm) from the airways. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Paracetamol/Acetaminophen is an antipyretic (fever reducer) which blocks the release of certain chemical messengers to reduce fever associated with cold.

Kuff Q NF Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Kuff Q NF Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Kuff Q NF Tablet may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION
Kuff Q NF Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Kuff Q NF Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Kuff Q NF Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

Q. What are the instructions for the storage and disposal of Kuff Q NF?

Q. Can the use of Kuff Q NF cause sleepiness or drowsiness?

Yes, Kuff Q NF may make you feel drowsy or may cause you to fall asleep during your regular daily activities. Serious side effects with Kuff Q NF are uncommon and rare. Tell your doctor as soon as possible if you notice allergic reactions, skin rash or peeling, mouth ulcers, breathing problems, unexplained bleeding, recurrent fevers or infections, vision disturbances, fast or irregular heartbeat.

Q. Will a more than the recommended dose of Kuff Q NF be more effective?

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having serious side effects. If the recommended dosage does not relieve your symptoms or if you experience increased severity of your symptoms, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Q. Are there any contraindications associated with the use of Kuff Q NF?

Yes, use of Kuff Q NF should be avoided if you have high blood pressure (hypertension), any underlying serious heart condition or cardiovascular disorder, any history of stomach ulcers or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). However, it can be taken if advised by the doctor. The use of this medicine should also be avoided if you are taking antidepressant drugs. These drugs, called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), may include phenelzine and isocarboxazid or tricyclic antidepressants like imipramine and amitriptyline. This medicine is preferably avoided in pregnant women especially in the first 3 months of pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are planning to become pregnant.

Q. Can I breastfeed while taking Kuff Q NF?

No, it is not advisable to breastfeed while using Kuff Q NF. This medicine contains chlorpheniramine, an antihistamine, which can pass into the breast milk and may harm the baby. Inform your doctor that you are breastfeeding if you are advised to take this medicine.
