Overview

Introduction

Gracederm Cream is a combination of medicines that is used to treat various types of skin infections. It minimizes symptoms of inflammation such as redness, swelling, and itching. It also prevents the growth of infection-causing microorganisms to promote faster healing of infections.

Gracederm Cream is only meant for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. A thin layer of the medicine should be applied only to the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. Wash your hands before and after applying the medicine. If it gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina rinse with water. It may take several days to weeks for your symptoms to improve, but you should keep using this medicine regularly. The course of the treatment should be completed to ensure better efficacy of the medicine. If your condition does not improve or gets worse, you should talk to your doctor.

This is usually a safe medicine, however, it may cause dryness, peeling, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are usually mild and self-limiting. Most of these side effects can be prevented by using a skin moisturizer and drinking plenty of water. Serious side effects are rare. You must consult the doctor if you experience any allergic reaction (rashes, itching, swelling, shortness of breath, etc.).

Before using this medicine, it is important to tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines for the same disease or other diseases. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use this medicine with proper consultation and caution. If you are a known allergic to the medicine, you must refrain from using this medicine and consult your doctor. During the course of the treatment, do not touch, prick or scratch the infected skin areas as this may worsen or spread the acne. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and use a sunscreen before stepping out in the sun. It is also advised, not to receive any cosmetic procedures without asking your doctor.

How Gracederm Cream works

Gracederm Cream is a combination of three medicines: Clotrimazole, Clobetasol and Neomycin, which treats skin infections. Clotrimazole is an antifungal which stops the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering. Clobetasol is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Neomycin is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by the bacteria to carry out vital functions.

FAQs

Q. Can I stop taking Gracederm when my symptoms are relieved?

No, do not stop using Gracederm and complete the full course of treatment, even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Q. What precautions should I take while using Gracederm?

Gracederm should not be used on the face and any contact with the eyes should be avoided. Do not apply a bandage or dressing on the area being treated, as this will increase absorption of the medicine and increase the risk of side effects. This medicine should only be used for the condition it is prescribed for. Do not use it for any other condition without consulting your doctor. Do not give it to other people even if their condition appears to be the same.

Q. How to use Gracederm?

Gracederm should be used as advised by the doctor or as per the instructions on the label of the medicine. Apply a thin layer of Gracederm to cover the affected areas. The dose would depend on the condition for which it is prescribed. Wash your hands after using Gracederm unless it is used for treating infection of the hands. Avoid contact with the eyes.

Q. What would happen if I use a higher than the recommended dose of Gracederm and for long periods?

The dosage and duration of using Gracederm should be strictly according to the doctor’s advice. This medicine contains clobetasol which when used in higher doses and for longer periods can get absorbed in the blood and cause adrenal suppression and Cushing's syndrome. It can cause weight gain, high blood pressure and rounding of the face. Its application can lead to a change in color of skin at the site of application. Veins beneath the skin become visible due to the thinning and weakening of the skin. There could be an increased hair growth. If you experience an increased severity of your symptoms, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Q. What are the instructions for the storage and disposal of Gracederm?

Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
