Gastobid Tablet is used in the treatment of anxiety.
Nausea, Constipation, Dryness in mouth, Weight gain, Sleepiness, Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), Dizziness, Blurred vision, Difficulty in urination.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Gastobid Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it with food, if it causes stomach upset.
Gastobid Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Isopropamide and Trifluoperazine. Isopropamide is an anticholinergic which works by blocking the binding of the acetylcholine (a chemical messenger) to its receptor in nerve cells. This relaxes the smooth muscles in the digestive tract and decreases the spasms. Trifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood.
