Floapt-D Tablet MR may be taken with or without food, but it should be taken at the same time each day. Your doctor will prescribe the dose most suitable for you. To gain the most benefit and to treat your symptoms effectively, you should not miss doses, even if you feel well. It may take up to 4 weeks to notice an improvement in the symptoms, but keep taking them regularly. Tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks or if they get worse.

The most common side effects of this medicine include impotence, decreased libido, breast pain, and ejaculation disorder. If these side effects worry you or do not go away, call your doctor for advice. You may also feel dizzy or drowsy. These risks are higher when you first start taking this drug. Remember, your doctor has given you this medicine because the benefits are greater than the risks of the side effects.

Floapt-D Tablet MR should not be taken by women or children. Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have low blood pressure or liver or kidney disease. This medicine may not be suitable. It can also affect, or be affected by, other drugs. So let your doctor know all the other medicines you are taking. You may be advised to wear a condom during sex if your partner is or may be pregnant. Your doctor may recommend getting your blood pressure checked frequently. Avoid drinking alcohol as it can cause excessive dizziness with this medicine.

Floapt-D Tablet MR helps reduce the size of your prostate by blocking the production of a hormone that causes it to grow. It also relaxes the muscles in the bladder and prostate. This helps relieve the symptoms and makes it easier for you to urinate.

How Floapt-D Tablet MR works

Floapt-D Tablet MR is a combination of two medicines: Tamsulosin and Dutasteride, which relieves the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker. It works by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and prostate gland so as to allow easy passage of urine. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, which helps in shrinking the prostate gland by decreasing the level of the hormone that helps the prostate gland grow.

Quick tips

Take it approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day.
Floapt-D Tablet MR may cause dizziness or blurring of vision. Do not drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
If you are scheduled to undergo an eye surgery due to cataract or glaucoma, inform your eye doctor about the usage of Floapt-D Tablet MR.
It may cause difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection (impotence), decreased sex drive, and ejaculation disorders such as decreased amount of semen produced or decreased sperm count.
Do not donate blood for 6 months after taking the last dose of Floapt-D Tablet MR.

Yes, the use of Floapt-D Tablet MR can cause dizziness. Floapt-D Tablet MR contains a combination of Tamsulosin and Dutasteride. Tamsulosin can cause a sudden fall in blood pressure while changing posture from lying to sitting or standing (orthostatic hypotension). This sudden fall in blood pressure can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, sensation of spinning, and vertigo. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, do not drive or use any machines. Along with that, it is important to keep in mind that pregnant women should not even handle Floapt-D Tablet MR as the medicine may get absorbed through the skin and cause harm to the fetus.

Use of Floapt-D Tablet MR can cause floppy eye syndrome. In this, the muscles of the iris become floppy, and the pupil constricts unexpectedly during cataract surgery. So, when the eye surgeon actually needs a dilated pupil, the pupil constricts unexpectedly. This restricts the field of surgery, which affects the surgical outcomes. Inform your eye doctor (ophthalmologist) if you are taking this medicine or if you have used this medicine in the last 9 months.

Apart from taking medicines, what should I do to manage my prostate symptoms?

Simple lifestyle changes can help you manage your prostate symptoms better. Try to urinate when you first get the urge. However, take care not to strain or push while urinating. Avoid drinking fluids (especially alcohol and caffeine) a few hours before bedtime or going out. You should also avoid medicines that tend to worsen urinary symptoms, like some over-the-counter medicines for cold and cough.
