How to use EMSYLATE Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. EMSYLATE 250 MG TABLET may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How EMSYLATE Tablet works

EMSYLATE 250 MG TABLET is a haemostatic medication. It works by increasing the ability of platelets to stick together and form blood clots. It also helps control bleeding from tiny blood vessels (capillaries).

  • Do not take ethamsylate if you are allergic to ethamsylate or any other ingredients in the medicine, or you have allergy to sulfa drugs or wheat.
  • Do not take ethamsylate if you develop fever with treatment; non-cancerous growths called fibroids in your womb; porphyria (a rare blood pigment disorder that affects skin and other organs, and causes abdominal pain).
  • Avoid using ethamsylate if you are pregnant or breast feeding a baby.
  • Do not use the product before onset of bleeding during periods.

I wanted to know whether mirena (Harmone IUD) is good option for long term contraceptive option. Please suggest if you see other better option than this.

Yes mirena is a good option. It will have the added advantage of decreased blood flow during periods ( in case you have heavy flow). The side effects of mirena could be irregular bleeding or spotting or no periods at all after 6-12 months of insertion. Other option is multiload. You can go for that also.
