How to use Edycold Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Edycold Tablet may be taken with or without food.

How Edycold Tablet works

Edycold Tablet is a combination of four medicines: caffeine, diphenhydramine, paracetamol, and phenylephrine, which relieve common cold symptoms. Diphenhydramine is an antiallergic that relieves allergy symptoms like a runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and an antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Caffeine increases the effectiveness of paracetamol and decreases the sleepiness caused by diphenhydramine. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the small blood vessels, providing temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

Quick tips

  • Take Edycold Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not increase the dose or take it longer than recommended.
  • Along with taking Edycold Tablet, supportive measures such as steam inhalation, warm saltwater gargling, and adequate hydration may help relieve symptoms.
  • Do not take other medicines containing paracetamol along with Edycold Tablet, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
  • Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsy, as this medicine may cause sedation in some people.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking other cold medicines or other prescription drugs.
  • If you have high blood pressure, glaucoma, or prostate problems, consult your doctor before using Edycold Tablet.
  • Seek medical advice if your symptoms do not improve within 5-7 days or if they worsen.
  • Get medical help immediately if you develop a fast or irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, anxiety, rash, breathing difficulty, or severe headache.

Frequently asked questions

Edycold Tablet is a medicine used to relieve symptoms of the common cold. It helps reduce fever, headache, body aches, sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, watery eyes, a sore throat, and a mild cough. It provides temporary relief so you can feel more comfortable while your body fights the infection. However, Edycold Tablet does not cure the virus that causes the cold. If your symptoms last longer than a few days or get worse, consult your doctor.
While taking Edycold Tablet, avoid foods and drinks that contain caffeine, such as coffee, tea, cola, and chocolate. Too much caffeine may increase side effects like restlessness, nervousness, or a racing heartbeat. Alcohol should also be avoided because it can increase drowsiness and put extra strain on your body while you are sick. Eating light meals and drinking warm fluids may help you recover more comfortably.
Yes, Edycold Tablet may cause drowsiness or make you feel less alert in some cases. You might feel unusually sleepy or tired after taking it. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks that require full attention until you know how the medicine affects you.
Serious side effects with Edycold Tablet are uncommon but require immediate medical attention. Seek help if you develop a severe allergic reaction, such as rash, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing. Other warning signs include skin peeling, persistent high fever, unusual bleeding, vision problems, or a fast or irregular heartbeat. In some people, Edycold Tablet may raise blood pressure. Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor right away if you notice any severe or unusual symptoms.
Edycold Tablet should only be used during pregnancy if your doctor specifically recommends it, as some ingredients may affect blood pressure or cause other unwanted effects. Self-medicating during pregnancy is not advised. It is also generally not recommended while breastfeeding because certain ingredients can pass into breast milk and may affect the baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Edycold Tablet.
No, taking more than the recommended dose of Edycold Tablet will not make it work faster and may increase the risk of serious side effects. Overuse can harm the liver, affect blood pressure, or cause other complications. Always follow your doctor’s dosing instructions and do not increase the dose or frequency on your own. Rest, staying hydrated, and supportive care are also important for recovery.
Edycold Tablet should be avoided in people with uncontrolled high blood pressure, serious heart disease, an overactive thyroid, stomach ulcers, or significant liver disease unless advised by a doctor. It should not be taken with certain antidepressants, especially monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) or some tricyclic antidepressants. Taking more than the recommended dose or combining it with other medicines that contain acetaminophen (paracetamol) can increase the risk of liver damage. Always consult your doctor before starting Edycold Tablet.
No, Edycold Tablet is not an antibiotic and does not cause antibiotic resistance. It is used to relieve symptoms such as fever, headache, body aches, and nasal congestion associated with the common cold. Antibiotic resistance occurs when antibiotics are overused or misused for bacterial infections. Since Edycold Tablet does not contain an antibiotic and does not treat bacterial infections, it does not contribute to resistance.
Older adults should take Edycold Tablet only after consulting a doctor. Some ingredients may cause increased drowsiness, confusion, or changes in blood pressure in elderly patients. Medical supervision helps ensure safe and appropriate use.
You should stop taking Edycold Tablet once your symptoms improve or as advised by your doctor. Do not continue using it longer than necessary, as prolonged use may increase the risk of side effects. If your symptoms last more than a few days or worsen, consult your doctor for further evaluation.
Vitamin C may slightly reduce the duration of a cold in some people, but it does not prevent colds completely. Eating a balanced diet, including fruits rich in vitamin C, and staying well hydrated can support your immune system. Consult your doctor before starting vitamin supplements.
Viruses cause most common colds and usually include symptoms such as a runny nose, mild fever, sneezing, and sore throat that improve within a few days. A bacterial infection may be suspected if symptoms are severe, include a high fever, or last longer than expected. Only a doctor can accurately determine the cause. Avoid self-diagnosing.
Antibiotics do not work for viral colds, which are the most common type of cold. Using antibiotics unnecessarily can contribute to antibiotic resistance and may cause side effects. If you have persistent fever or worsening symptoms, consult your doctor to determine whether further evaluation or treatment is needed.
