Duvent-PD Syrup is taken without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. It is better to take it with food to avoid stomach upset. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, tremor, headache, palpitations, muscle cramps, restlessness, and increased heart rate. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.

Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a group of lung diseases that cause breathing difficulties. COPD is caused by swelling of the airways that carry air in and out of the lungs. Duvent-PD Syrup relaxes the muscles of these airways and widens it. This makes you breathe easy and gives relief from symptoms such as tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Avoid smoking and minimise your exposure to pollution, dust and fumes. Along with that, a little exercise each day can help you stay strong. Talk to your doctor about how much exercise is good for you.

How to use Duvent-PD Syrup

Avoid Duvent-PD Syrup with caffeine and chocolate as well as food containing caffeine and chocolate such as tea leaves, cocoa beans.

You have been prescribed Duvent-PD Syrup for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you.
If at any time your breathing gets worse or you notice muscle twitching or weakness, or an irregular heartbeat, please contact your doctor or nurse for advice straightaway.
Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, or diabetes.
Tell your doctor about all other medicines you have used in the past 14 days, especially water pills, anti-depressant, or medicines for heart problems.
Do not smoke. Smoking causes irritation and damage to the lungs and will make your condition worse.

Pregnancy

Duvent-PD Syrup is not recommended during pregnancy as there is positive evidence of fetal risk based on animal studies. However, it may still be prescribed by a doctor in situations where the benefits outweigh the risks.

Breast feeding

CAUTION

Duvent-PD Syrup should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from the body.

Driving

Duvent-PD Syrup does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Duvent-PD Syrup may cause side effects such as dizziness, increased or uneven heart rate, muscle cramps or muscle pain. This may affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

CAUTION

Duvent-PD Syrup should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Liver

CAUTION

Duvent-PD Syrup should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
