Duovir N Tablet

Product introduction

Duovir N Tablet is a combination of antiretroviral medicines. It is prescribed to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection. It improves the immunity to fight against HIV to manage or treat AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome).

Duovir N Tablet can be taken with or without food. Taking these medicines regularly at the same time increases their effectiveness. A dose of this medicine should not be missed, as it can affect your recovery. It is important to complete the full course of the treatment until your doctor advises you to stop it. Sudden discontinuation of the treatment may affect the potency of the medicine.

The most common side effects of this medicine are headaches, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and rash. These side effects are generally temporary, but if they persist or become serious, inform your doctor. However, if you experience hypersensitivity, consult your doctor immediately. Drinking plenty of fluid can help you cope with the side effects, so stay hydrated.

Before starting the treatment, you should consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any other health conditions. Your doctor may suggest regular blood tests to check your blood counts, kidney and liver functions, and other health conditions. If you are HIV positive, you should not breastfeed or share personal belongings like razors or toothbrushes. Consult your doctor to learn about safe sex methods to prevent transmission of HIV during intercourse.

Uses of Duovir N Tablet

Benefits of Duovir N Tablet

In Treatment of HIV infection

Duovir N Tablet prevents the HIV from multiplying in your body. It helps control the infection and makes your immune system work better. This lowers your chances of getting complications such as new infections and improves the quality of your life.

Duovir N Tablet is not a cure for HIV or AIDS and should not be used to prevent HIV after accidental exposure to a risk. Take it exactly as prescribed, following the dosage recommended by your doctor. Taking all doses in the right amount at the right times greatly increases the effectiveness of your combination of medicines and reduces the chances of your HIV infection becoming resistant to antiretroviral medicines.

How Duovir N Tablet works

Duovir N Tablet is a combination of three medicines: lamivudine, zidovudine, and nevirapine that work together to fight HIV by preventing the virus from multiplying in the body. Lamivudine and zidovudine belong to a class of medicines called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). They work by blocking an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which HIV needs to make more copies of itself. This helps slow down the spread of the virus. Nevirapine, on the other hand, is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI). It attaches to the same enzyme but differently, making it even harder for HIV to multiply. By working together, these three medicines help protect the immune system and lower the risk of complications.
