Droxan Syrup may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The dose and duration of the medicine will depend on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

Droxan Syrup may cause some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Usually, these subside once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor immediately.

Inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problems, skin disorders, or liver and kidney malfunction. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

Droxan Syrup does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Give Droxan Syrup with food to avoid an upset stomach.

Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
Only give Droxan Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.

Taking Droxan with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Do not consume Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) two weeks before and at least 10 days after consuming Cefadroxil. Please consult your doctor. Cefadroxil may reduce the efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine (Injection Route)

What if I overdose my child by mistake?

During a common cold, it is normal for mucus to thicken up and change from clear to yellow or green. This color change of mucus does not necessarily indicate the need for antibiotics. These symptoms often last for 7-10 days. However, if the symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Can Droxan Syrup impact my child’s digestive system?

Children generally have a sensitive stomach, and they may develop a stomach upset while taking medicines. Droxan Syrup is an antibiotic and its use may affect or compromise the good bacteria in their gastrointestinal tract. It may kill off the good bacteria along with the bad and increase the risk of developing other infections.
