Frequently asked questions

Docina Syrup is mainly used to treat tuberculosis (TB), and to help prevent TB in people who are at risk, or have recently been exposed. It must be taken exactly as prescribed, usually along with other TB medicines.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is added with isoniazid in Docina Syrup to reduce the risk of nerve-related problems, which can sometimes occur with isoniazid alone. This medicine is especially helpful for people who are malnourished, diabetic, or at higher risk of nerve damage.
People with acute or chronic liver disease, a past serious reaction to isoniazid, or a history of isoniazid-related liver injury should not take Docina Syrup. If you are unsure, talk to your doctor before starting treatment.
Serious side effects of Docina Syrup may include yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, ongoing nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and unusual tiredness or weakness. These can be signs of liver damage, a known but rare serious risk of isoniazid. Seek medical help right away if you notice any of these symptoms.
Yes, isoniazid present in Docina Syrup may cause nerve problems like tingling or numbness in the hands or feet (peripheral neuritis). Vitamin B6 present in Docina Syrup reduces this risk, but if you notice symptoms, tell your doctor promptly.
Your doctor may recommend regular liver function tests, and may ask about symptoms of liver problems each month during Docina Syrup treatment. Eye checks may be needed if you develop vision issues during treatment.
Stop taking Docina Syrup, and seek medical help if you experience symptoms such as skin rash, fever, swelling of lymph nodes, joint pain, and sudden drop in blood pressure. These can be signs of a hypersensitivity reaction.
