How to use Dicmin Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Dicmin Tablet works
Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: drotaverine and paracetamol which relieves abdominal pain. Drotaverine is an anti-spasmodic medicine which relieves spasms associated with smooth muscles. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Taking Drotaverine+Paracetamol / Acetaminophen with alcohol can cause liver damage.
Pregnancy
Unknown. Human and animal studies are not available. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
No information is available on the use of Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
As Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet may cause vertigo.
Kidney
Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet contains paracetamol which is considered the safest painkiller for kidney disease patients.
Liver
CAUTION
Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Dicmin 40mg/500mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

Q. Can I stop taking Dicmin when my pain is relieved?
Dicmin is usually used for short term and can be discontinued if there is no pain. However, it should be continued if advised by the doctor.
Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Dicmin?
The use of Dicmin is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to any of the components or excipients of this medicine. It should be used carefully in patients with alcohol dependency, or with underlying kidney or liver damage.
Q. Can the use of Dicmin cause damage to liver?
Dicmin contains paracetamol. This medicine is known to cause harm to the liver especially in the doses above the recommended level. Also, avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may further increase your risk of liver damage. Use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with the underlying liver disease. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice any early signs and symptoms of liver damage. These symptoms may include fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, dark urine, yellow skin or eyes and abnormal liver enzymes.
Q. Can I take a higher than the recommended dose of Dicmin?
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Dicmin can lead to increased chances of side effects. If the recommended doses do not relieve your pain or you experience increased severity of pain, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
