Introduction

Coxbact E 450mg/300mg/800mg Tablet is a combination of three medicines. It is prescribed to treat Tuberculosis. It fights against the bacteria to kill them.

Coxbact E 450mg/300mg/800mg Tablet is a prescription medicine. It can be taken with or without food. Take the medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. A missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember. The course of the treatment should be completed for better efficacy.

Some of the side effects of Coxbact E 450mg/300mg/800mg Tablet are nausea, vomiting, rashes, etc. You may also feel dizzy, thus it is advised not to drive or operate machinery. To overcome dizziness you should drink plenty of fluid. If any of the side effects get aggravated, contact your doctor immediately. In cases of severe liver or kidney disease, consult your doctor before you start with the treatment. Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while you are on the treatment.

How to use Coxbact E Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Coxbact E 450mg/300mg/800mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Avoid Coxbact E 450mg/300mg/800mg Tablet with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

How Coxbact E Tablet works

Coxbact E 450mg/300mg/800mg Tablet is a combination of three medicines: Rifampicin, isoniazid and ethambutol, which treats tuberculosis. Rifampicin works by inactivating a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by TB bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce, while isoniazid prevents these bacteria from forming their own protective covering. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection. Ethambutol, on the other hand works by slowing the growth of these bacteria.

Yes, Coxbact E contains rifampicin which can cause temporary discoloration of your teeth, sweat, urine, saliva, and tears (red, orange, or brown color). This side effect is usually not harmful. However, discoloration of urine can be a sign of liver damage. Call your doctor if you have discoloration of urine with stomach pain, loss of appetite, and jaundice (yellowing of your skin or eyes).

No, do not discontinue Coxbact E. Take the proper course of the drug that has been prescribed to you even if you begin to feel better. If you stop taking Coxbact E, your infection may become worse and difficult to treat. It may even result in drug-resistant TB i.e. drugs you were taking may no longer work for Tuberculosis.

Q. Can Coxbact E cause visual impairment?

Coxbact E contains Ethambutol, which may cause visual impairment. Inform the doctor immediately if you notice any changes in your eyesight.
