Product introduction

Comtripsy 20 Tablet should be taken with food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefit. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

The most common side effects of this medicine include anemia, neutropenia, fatigue, nausea, thrombocytopenia, decreased appetite, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. If any of these side effects bother you, let your doctor know. Regular blood tests are required to check your blood cells along with liver functioning.

Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your healthcare team know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

Cancer of colon and rectum
Cancer of the colon and rectum, also known as colorectal cancer (CRC) or bowel cancer, is the development of cancer from two parts of the large intestine, namely, the colon or rectum. In this type of cancer, the person may notice symptoms such as blood in the stool, a change in bowel movements, weight loss, and fatigue. Comtripsy 20 Tablet treats and also lowers the risk of developing further cancerous growths (polyps) and bowel cancer. It kills or stops the growth of cancer cells and also prevents the multiplication of cancer cells. It is an effective, yet very toxic medicine and you should discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking while having this treatment and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Side effects of Comtripsy Tablet

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How to use Comtripsy Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Comtripsy 20 Tablet should be taken with or after food.

How Comtripsy Tablet works

Comtripsy 20 Tablet is a combination of two anticancer medications. Trifluridine suppresses DNA synthesis and stops the growth of cancer cells. Tipiracil slows down the degradation of trifluridine in the body.

Quick tips

  • Avoid the use of antacids within two hours of taking this medicine.
  • Drink plenty of water every 24 hours after the start of the treatment.
  • You may be at risk of infection so try to avoid crowds or people with colds, and report fever or any other signs of infection immediately to your doctor.
  • To help treat/prevent mouth sores, use a soft toothbrush and rinse your mouth at least 3 times a day with saline water.
  • To reduce nausea, take anti-nausea medications as prescribed by your doctor, and eat small, frequent meals.
  • Eat foods that may help reduce diarrhea and take adequate rest.
  • Use contraceptives, and do not conceive a child (get pregnant) while taking Comtripsy 20 Tablet. Barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms should be used during therapy and for 6 months after treatment.

This treatment may harm a baby developing in the womb. It is important not to conceive or father a child while you are on treatment with Comtripsy 20 Tablet and for at least 6 months after its final dose. Talk to your doctor about effective contraception before starting the treatment.
No, it is advisable to avoid breastfeeding during the treatment with Comtripsy 20 Tablet and for 1 day following its final dose.
Food items with soluble fiber can help relieve diarrhea as they absorb excess fluid from the body. These food items include bananas (ripe), oranges, boiled potatoes, white rice, curd, and oatmeal. Diarrhea can cause dehydration in the body, so drink 8-10 glasses of water to avoid it. You can also have soups and juices frequently to hydrate yourself.
You can continue with your normal diet unless your doctor tells you otherwise. However, it is advisable to sip water regularly to prevent dehydratation, eat small, simple but nourishing snacks every few hours rather than large meals, and suck on hard candy or popsicles to prevent nausea and vomiting.
Keep taking this medicine exactly as directed until your doctor tells you to stop. Regular scans will reveal whether your tumor is responding to the treatment. Your doctor will determine when those scans should be scheduled.
Since Comtripsy 20 Tablet lowers the number of white blood cells and platelets in your blood, it puts you at risk of getting an infection. In order to prevent this, avoid people who have infections. Check with your doctor immediately if you think you may have been infected, or if you get a fever, chills, or cough.
You may experience bleeding from gums due to a drop in the number of platelets (blood cells) in your blood. These blood cells help the blood clot when we bruise ourselves.
Various things can help you reduce tiredness and cope with it, for example, gentle exercise. However, always consult your doctor before doing any kind of exercise.
