Overview

Introduction

Cataspa Tablet is a combination of two pain-relieving medicines. It is used in the treatment of abdominal pain and discomfort. It relaxes the stomach muscles to reduce pain and cramps. It eliminates stomach pain by preventing the pain signals from reaching the brain.

Cataspa Tablet is a combination of two medicines. It is to be taken by mouth, preferably with food. Take it in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not consume more than the recommended dose of this medicine, as high doses may have harmful effects on your health. Long-term usage of this medicine is not advisable. It is always better to tell your doctor if you have any other health conditions.

This medication may cause blurred vision, dizziness, sleepiness or nausea, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus. Some of the common side effects of this medicine are constipation, diarrhea, and dryness of mouth. Proper fluid intake and rest will help you to overcome these. You must stop this medication and consult your doctor in case you encounter any allergic reaction such as skin rash, swelling, and itching.

How Cataspa Tablet works

Cataspa Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Dicyclomine and Diclofenac, which relieves abdominal pain and cramps. Dicyclomine is an anticholinergic which works by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms) thereby relieving cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause abdominal pain and inflammation (swelling).

Cataspa Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Driving

Cataspa Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Cataspa Tablet may cause headaches, blurred vision, dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. This may affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Cataspa Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Cataspa Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Cataspa Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Cataspa Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended in patients with liver disease if this medicine is to be taken for a long time.
