Do not start or continue calcium preparations (calcium salts) and consult your doctor: 
  • If you have higher than normal levels of calcium in your urine (hypercalciuria).
  • If you have kidney stones.
  • If you have mild to moderate problems with your kidneys.
  • If you have an overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism).
  • If you have thinning or weakening of bones (osteoporosis) caused by immobility or tumors.
