Benz DX Syrup is a combination of two medicines used in the treatment of dry cough. It can provide temporary relief of cough due to throat irritation, sneezing, and a runny nose. It works by reducing the activity of the brain's cough center and blocking the effects of histamine.


Benz DX Syrup is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early, your symptoms may come back, and your condition may worsen. How Benz DX Syrup works

Benz DX Syrup is a combination of two medicines, Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, that relieve dry cough. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic medicine that helps reduce cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger called histamine. Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of the cough center in the brain.

  • Consult your doctor if cough lasts more than 7 days, keeps recurring, or occurs with fever, rash, or persistent headache.
  • Seek medical attention if cough is associated with high fever, breathlessness, chest pain, or coughing up blood.
  • Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma or urinary retention before using Benz DX Syrup.
  • Do not use Benz DX Syrup for cough with mucus (wet cough), as it may prevent clearance of phlegm.
  • Do not take Benz DX Syrup with antidepressants or similar medicines without consulting your doctor, as it may cause serious side effects.
