How to use Benidip CH Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Benidip CH Tablet works

Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Benidipine and chlorthalidone which lower blood pressure effectively. Benidipine is a calcium channel blocker which relaxes blood vessels and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body by increasing the amount of urine produced. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet. Taking Chlorthalidone with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
No information is available on the use of Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
Dizziness or weakness due to low blood pressure may occur in some patients while on Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet. If you are affected in this way, your ability to drive may be impaired.
Kidney
Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in these patients.
Liver
CAUTION
Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Benidip CH 4mg/12.5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

  • Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.
  • It may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension).  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
  • It may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth.
  • Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while you are taking this medicine.
