Bavencio Injection is given as an intravenous infusion by a healthcare professional. It is usually administered once every two weeks, and treatment is continued as long as it is effective and well-tolerated. Do not stop receiving this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Some common side effects of this medicine include fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, and muscle or joint pain. Some side effects may be mild, while others can be serious and require medical attention. Inform your doctor if any side effects persist, worsen, or if you experience any unusual symptoms.

Before receiving this medicine, inform your doctor if you have a history of allergic reactions, autoimmune disorders, or problems with your heart, kidneys, liver, or thyroid gland. Also, tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, and supplements.

Bavencio Injection may harm an unborn baby and should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor determines it is necessary. Women who can become pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least one month after the last dose. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment and for at least one month after the last dose.

Bavencio Injection helps to treat urinary bladder cancer (urothelial carcinoma). It kills the cancer cells by stimulating the immune system of our body. It prevents progression of the disease to advanced stages of cancer and also reduces the chances of recurrence of the cancer. It is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse and should not be self-administered.

Treatment of Kidney cancer
Kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) is a type of kidney cancer that develops in the cells of the kidney and may spread to other parts of the body. Bavencio Injection is used in combination with axitinib to treat advanced renal cell carcinoma. It helps the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells, thereby helping control tumor growth. This helps delay disease progression.

How Bavencio Injection works

Bavencio Injection is a type of immunotherapy. It activates the body's immune system to fight cancer cells. Avelumab targets and blocks a protein (PD-L1) found on the surface of certain immune cells. Blocking PD-L1 activates the immune cells to find and kill cancer cells.

Quick tips

Do not receive any immunization or vaccination without your doctor’s approval while taking Bavencio Injection.
You may be at risk of infection, so try to avoid crowds or people with colds, and immediately report fever or any other signs of infection to your health care provider.
Inform your doctor immediately if you notice signs or symptoms of skin rash, itchy skin, a rash with tiny spots and bumps, reddening of the skin.
To reduce nausea, take anti-nausea medications as prescribed by your doctor, and eat small, frequent meals.
Use contraceptives, and do not conceive a child (get pregnant) while taking Bavencio Injection. Barrier methods of contraception, such as condoms, are recommended.
Avoid sun exposure. Wear SPF 15 (or higher) sunblock and protective clothing.
Do not drive or use machines after you have received Bavencio Injection since you might feel tired or dizzy.
