Axcold Suspension is taken with or without in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, restlessness, and headache. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It can also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.

Never support self-medication or recommend your medicine to another person. It is beneficial to have plenty of fluids while taking this medication. Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Axcold Suspension effectively relieves symptoms of common cold such as runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, and congestion or stuffiness. It clears a blocked nose. This reduces congestion and helps in easy breathing. This medicine does not cause much sleepiness due to the presence of Caffeine in it. As a result, you can do your daily activities more easily. This medicine usually starts to work within a few minutes and the effects can last up to several hours. Along with medications, drink enough lukewarm water and gargle with warm salt water to feel better.

How to use Axcold Suspension

How Axcold Suspension works

Phenylephrine is a decongestant. It narrows the small blood vessels, which provide temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Caffeine is a stimulant which prevents sleepiness caused by chlorpheniramine.

Quick tips

Axcold Suspension is prescribed to get relief from symptoms of common cold.
Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended.
Call your doctor if your symptoms have not improved within seven days of treatment.
Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications for cold.
Along with taking Axcold Suspension do the following simple tips at home to get relief:
1. Steam inhalation.
2. Gargling with warm saltwater.
3. Apply vapor rubs on chest, back if needed. Take enough rest.
4. Take warm food and fluid only. Ensure adequate fluid intake.
5. Advise hygiene measures to reduce spread: frequent hand-washing, avoiding sharing towels, pillowcases, etc.

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine. Axcold Suspension may cause excessive drowsiness when taken with alcohol.

Pregnancy

Breast feeding

Axcold Suspension may be unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby. It should be used only if the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk. Please consult your doctor.
Larger doses or prolonged use of Axcold Suspension may cause sleepiness and other effects in the baby

Driving

UNSAFE

Axcold Suspension may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION

Axcold Suspension should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Use of Axcold Suspension may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION

Axcold Suspension should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
