rx_imgPrescription Required

Product introduction

Astham Tablet is used for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung disorder in which the flow of air to the lungs is blocked). It helps in relaxing the muscles of the air passages and making it easier to breathe. It relieves coughing, wheezing and feeling short of breath.

Astham Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, bloating, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, headache, sweating, skin rash, tremor, muscle cramps, restlessness, and increased heart rate. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects.

Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Benefits of Astham Tablet

In Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is a group of lung diseases that cause breathing difficulties. COPD is caused by swelling of the airways that carry air in and out of the lungs. Astham Tablet relaxes the muscles of these airways and widens it. It also loosens mucus and helps you to cough it out. This makes you breathe easy and gives relief from symptoms such as tightness in your chest, shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Avoid smoking and minimise your exposure to pollution, dust and fumes. Along with that, a little exercise each day can help you stay strong. Talk to your doctor about how much exercise is good for you.

FAQs

What is Astham Tablet used for?

Astham Tablet is a respiratory medicine used to relieve bronchospasm (the tightening of the muscles in your airways) in adults and children over 6 years old who have conditions such as asthma or COPD. It helps in relaxing the muscles of the air passages and making it easier to breathe. It relieves coughing, wheezing, and feeling short of breath.
Can I use Astham Tablet for a dry, hacking cough?

No. Astham Tablet is specifically formulated for a productive cough, where there is mucus and airway constriction. This medicine helps to clear phlegm and open the airways. For a dry cough without these symptoms, a different medicine would be more appropriate.
How quickly will Astham Tablet start to work?

You should start to feel the bronchodilating effects, such as easier breathing, relatively quickly after taking Astham Tablet. The full effect of the medicine on thinning and loosening the mucus in your chest may take longer to become fully noticeable, as it works within the mucus-secreting cells.
What should I tell my doctor before I start taking Astham Tablet?

Before starting Astham Tablet, it is very important to inform your doctor if you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, or diabetes. The salbutamol and etofylline in Astham Tablet can affect these conditions, and your doctor will need to determine if it is safe for you to take them.
Is Astham Tablet safe for children?

The safety and effectiveness of Astham Tablet have not been established in children under the age of 2. It is indicated for use in adults and children 6 years of age and older. Always follow your doctor's advice when it comes to medicines for children.
