Common

Side Effects of Asomex-TM are Nausea, Taste change, Diarrhoea, Stomach upset, Ankle swelling, Headache, Dizziness, Weakness, Numbness of extremity, Flushing (sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck and trunk), Increased potassium level in blood, Decreased blood pressure, Tiredness, Sleepiness, Palpitations.

How to use Asomex-TM Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Asomex-TM Tablet works

Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: S-Amlodipine and Telmisartan which lower blood pressure effectively. S-Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB) and Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). They work by relaxing the blood vessels and making the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.

  • You have been prescribed this combination medicine as it can control blood pressure better than either alone.
  • Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
  • It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up.  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. 
  • Avoid consuming alcohol as it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine.
  • It can cause ankle or foot swelling. Raise your legs while you’re sitting down and talk to your doctor if it does not go away.
  • Do not take Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol
CAUTION
Taking Telmisartan with alcohol may excessively lower the blood pressure.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Kidney
SAFE
Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have an underlying kidney disease. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, creatinine, and potassium levels may be advised while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Asomex-TM 2.5mg/40mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
