Treatment of Bacterial infections

These antibiotics work by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Together, they treat your infection effectively. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Amclox Capsule is to be taken on an empty stomach.

How Amclox Capsule works

Amclox Capsule is a combination of ampicillin and dicloxacillin. This works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Ampicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. Dicloxacillin is resistant to bacterial enzymes that inactivate other penicillins and strengthens the action against resistant bacteria. Together, they provide coverage against a wide range of bacterial infections.

Quick tips

  • You have been prescribed this combination medicine to treat bacterial infections.
  • Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Amclox Capsule may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.
  • Take it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach.
  • Stop taking Amclox Capsule and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
