How to use Allercet Cold Syrup

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Allercet Cold Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it with food if stomach upset occurs.

How Allercet Cold Syrup works

Allercet Cold Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate and Phenylephrine which relieve cold symptoms. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

Driving
Allercet Cold Syrup may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
Allercet Cold Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Allercet Cold Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Allercet Cold Syrup may cause excessive sleepiness in patients with end stage kidney disease.
Liver
CAUTION

Yes, the use of Allercet Cold can cause nausea and vomiting. Taking it with milk, food or with antacids can prevent nausea. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods along with this medication. In case of vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids by taking small frequent sips. Talk to your doctor if vomiting persists and you signs of dehydration, like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicine without speaking to a doctor.

Yes, the most common side effect of Allercet Cold is drowsiness. Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery or engaging in other activities that need your full attention, unless your healthcare provider has permitted you to do so. Also, avoid taking certain pain relief medicines and medicines that help you sleep while taking Allercet Cold as it lead to severe drowsiness, causing falls or accidents.
