Product introduction
Ryzodeg 100 unit/ml Penfill (3ml Each) can be prescribed by itself or along with other diabetes medicines. Your doctor or nurse will teach you how to inject it under the skin correctly. You should use this medicine regularly as per the dose advised to get the most benefit. It is usually taken once daily at the same time every day. However, when administration at the same time of the day is not possible, it may be taken at a different time. Always ensure that there is a minimum gap of 8 hours between doses.
If you stop taking it, your blood sugar levels may rise very high and put you at risk of serious complications. It is only part of a treatment program that should include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction, as your doctor advises.
This medicine's most common side effect is low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). To prevent this, it is important always to inject the correct dose of medicine only, have regular meals, and monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. Drinking excessive alcohol can also lead to a fall in your blood sugar levels. Other common side effects include allergic reactions, injection site reactions, lipodystrophy, itching, rash, edema, and weight gain.
Do not use this medicine when you have low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney, liver, or heart problems before starting treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before using it.
Uses of Ryzodeg Cartridge
Benefits of Ryzodeg Cartridge
Ryzodeg 100 unit/ml Penfill (3ml Each) combines long-acting insulin degludec and rapid-acting insulin aspart to provide flexible and convenient blood sugar control in patients with diabetes. The long-acting component helps maintain steady insulin levels throughout the day and night, while the rapid-acting insulin manages blood sugar spikes after meals. This reduces the number of injections needed, improves glycemic control, and helps lower the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), especially at night, making it a highly effective option for people with diabetes.
Side effects of Ryzodeg Cartridge
- Injection site reactions (pain, swelling, redness)
- Lipodystrophy (skin thickening or pits at the injection site)
- Itching
- Rash
- Edema (swelling)
- Weight gain
- Hypoglycemia (low blood glucose level)
How to use Ryzodeg Cartridge
How Ryzodeg Cartridge works
Quick tips
- Take it 15 minutes before or within 20 minutes after starting a meal.
- Injection below the skin of the abdomen results in faster absorption than other injection sites, such as the skin of the upper arms, thighs, or buttocks. After injection, the site of injection should not be massaged.
- Injection sites must be rotated to prevent hard lumps from developing at one site.
- Change to another type or brand of insulin should be done under strict medical supervision as it may require a change in dosage.
- Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or by delaying/skipping a meal. Carry a sugar source with you for immediate relief.
- Do not share your insulin device with others, even if the needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection or get it from them.
- Opened vials/cartridges can be kept at room temperature for up to 4 weeks, while unopened vials must be stored in the refrigerator (2°C–8°C).
