Lohasava

Lohasava
Lohasava, also known as Lohasavam, is an Ayurvedic herbs-mineral classical preparation. It is herb-infused liquid medicine used to treat anemia and control obesity. As its name suggests, Lauh means iron which means the medicine is infused with iron, providing aid in managing iron deficiency problems. It also shows anti-obesity properties which can be helpful in weight management. It is also used to manage jaundice, hepatitis, fatty liver, general weakness, and piles[1].

According to Ayurveda, it has Pitta-balancing properties which help to reduce the symptoms of anemia. Lohasava when mixed with other Ayurvedic medications can help with liver-related problems[2]. It also has Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestive) properties which help to manage indigestion and other digestion-related problems. Lohasava helps improve hemoglobin in the body which provides aid in relieving symptoms of bleeding piles. It also has the Balya (strength provider) property which helps to reduce the symptoms of fatigue.

Lohasava syrup is available in liquid form. You can take 15-20ml Lohasava or as directed by the physician to get relief from the symptoms of anemia. Mix it with equal amounts of lukewarm water to dilute its taste a little. Take it once or twice a day, preferably after meals.

Lohasava syrup is generally well tolerated by most people and does not have any side effects when taken in the recommended dose. However, it is advisable to consult the doctor before using Lohasava.

Benefits of Lohasava

1. Anemia:
The deficiency of hemoglobin in the blood is known as anemia. It is a condition in which the body experiences a lack of enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to the tissues. It may make you feel tired and weak. Anemia, known as Pandu Roga in Ayurveda, is a condition that occurs due to an imbalanced Pitta dosha, leading to weakness and fatigue. Lohasava helps in reducing the symptoms of Anemia due to its Pitta-balancing property. It is also a rich source of natural iron that helps restore hemoglobin levels.

Tip
-Take 15-20ml Lohasava syrup
-Mix with equal quantity of water
-Have it twice a day, preferably after meals
# This will help in providing relief from the symptoms of anemia.

2. Loss of appetite:
Loss of appetite can be characterized as a reduced desire to eat. This condition is also called anorexia. In Ayurveda, loss of appetite is caused due to Agnimandya (weak digestion). It is caused by an aggravation of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha doshas. It can also be caused due to psychological factors, leading to incomplete digestion of food and causing insufficient secretion of gastric juice in the stomach. Lohasava due to its Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestive) properties help improve digestion, thereby modulating the desire to eat.

3. Indigestion (dyspepsia):
Indigestion, also known as dyspepsia and stomach upset, is a state of an incomplete process of digestion. It can be characterized by a sensation of pain or discomfort in the upper abdominal region. One may also experience a feeling of fullness and bloating. According to Ayurveda, indigestion is termed as Agnimandya. This occurs due to an imbalance of Pitta dosha. Whenever the consumed food is left undigested due to Mand Agni (low digestive fire), it results in the formation of Ama (toxic remains in the body due to improper digestion).
Lohasava is an effective Ayurvedic preparation that helps manage indigestion by digesting the Ama due to its Deepan (appetizer) and Pachan (digestion) properties.

4. General weakness:
General weakness is a feeling of body fatigue or tiredness. You may feel a lack of energy. This usually happens when the body is deprived of a continuous flow of energy. Lohasava is useful in managing general weakness or fatigue in day-to-day life. According to Ayurveda, fatigue is also known as klama. It is caused due to an imbalance of Kapha dosha and deficiency of essential minerals in the body. Lohasava has Balya (strength provider) property which helps to reduce the symptoms of fatigue. It also fulfills the requirement of important essential minerals, especially iron which helps in gaining overall strength.

5. Bleeding piles:
Piles, also called hemorrhoids, are a common problem. These are the swollen veins inside the rectum or outside the anus that can cause pain, anal itching, and rectal bleeding. Lohasava is rich in iron content which helps fulfill the deficiency of blood hemoglobin caused due to bleeding in piles.
