Diclofenac + Tramadol is a combination of two medicines: Diclofenac + Tramadol1 and Diclofenac + Tramadol2, which relieves severe pain. Diclofenac + Tramadol1 is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Diclofenac + Tramadol2 is an opioid which works by blocking transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception.
Q. Can I discontinue the medication when my pain is relieved?
Durapain is usually used for short term and can be discontinued when your pain is relieved. However, Durapain should be continued if you are advised by the doctor to do so.
Q. Can the use of Durapain cause constipation?
Yes, the use of Durapain can cause constipation. Talk to your doctor about treating constipation if it persists for a long time.
Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Durapain?
Durapain should be avoided in patients with known allergy to any of the components or excipients of this medicine. Durapain can cause problems when used with medicines that can cause sleepiness or MAO inhibitors (certain medicines that are used in the treatment of depression or Parkinson’s disease). Durapain should not be used in patients who are suffering from severe liver disease or epilepsy.
Q. Can the use of Durapain cause damage to kidneys?
Yes, long-term use of Durapain can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects them from damage. Use of painkillers lowers the levels of prostaglandins in the body leading to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended to patients with underlying kidney disease.
Q. Can the use of Durapain cause dry mouth?
Yes, the use of Durapain can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry.
Q. What are the instructions for the storage and disposal of Durapain?
Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
