The hip joint (top of the thigh bone and acetabulum fused) allows motion and bears the body weight. In Anterior-Posterior (AP) projection of the hip, X-rays pass from the front to the back of the patient. It visualizes any fractures, dislocations, bone lesions, or degenerative diseases of the hip joint. The symptoms include pain in the groin, side of the hip, buttocks, and knee.
An X-ray uses radiation to create a picture of the area. A radiologist will assess the images and send a report. A plain x-ray usually takes 15 minutes. It is a safe and painless technique, as the radiation exposure is minimal.
