Tumour Mutation Burden (TMB) Analysis by NGS
Tumor mutation burden (TMB) refers to the number of non-synonymous somatic mutations (single nucleotide variants and small insertions/deletions) per megabase in coding regions.
A high TMB means more mutations which indicates more neoantigens can activate the immune system against cancer cells. So, patients with high TMB might benefit more from immunotherapy drugs like immune checkpoint inhibitors and thus help the clinician to make informed decisions on the treatment.
This test allows us to determine TMB score using next-generation sequencing-based multi-gene analysis with diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic implications in different cancer types.
