The PRM - HBsAg test screens for Hepatitis B infection by detecting the surface antigen of the virus in the blood. This antigen appears soon after exposure and indicates that the person is currently infected and may be contagious. If HBsAg remains detectable for more than six months, it suggests a chronic infection requiring medical care or even asymptomatic carrier state.
