Understanding MR Spectroscopy
What is MR Spectroscopy?
MRI Spectroscopy identifies various biochemical changes in the tissues. The scan is helpful in the prediction of grade of gliomas, infection, ischemia, infarction, hepatic encephalopathy & several mitochondrial disorders. The test is non invasive and performed using MRI scanner.
What is MR Spectroscopy used for?
- To diagnose stroke (brain cells death), ischemia (loss of blood supply to organs) brain hammarhage
- To analyze seizures/epilepsy, depression, depression, metabolic disease of muscles
- To study the change in lipid content in the body (tissues, organs, blood vessels), chemical messengers
- To detect abnormalities of the body fluids like blood or CSF (cerebrospinal fluid)
