DOTA NOC Scan

The DOTA-NOC scan or Ga-68 DOTA-NOC is an imaging test where a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) or Computed Tomography (CT) scan is performed after the injection of a radiotracer dye known as DOTA and NOC.Ga-68 DOTA-NOC binds to somatostatin receptors which are highly expressed in Neuro Endocrine Tumors (NET).

This test is prescribed by the doctor to image and diagnose gastropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors or pancreatic cancer and detect metastasis and as a follow-up test for patients who have been diagnosed or treated for pancreatic cancer. This scan can also be used to visualize such tumors for detection, staging, and follow-up.

The DOTA-NOC imaging test is very specific and sensitive to the diagnosis of pancreatic tumors. This is a safe and non-invasive test but pregnant women should inform their doctor as the radiations may affect the fetus.
