The CT Brain & Neck Angiography is a specialized imaging test used to visualize the blood vessels in the brain, neck, and surrounding areas. This non-invasive procedure combines computed tomography (CT) scanning with a contrast dye injected into a vein to highlight arteries and veins. It is particularly useful for detecting abnormalities such as aneurysms, stenosis (narrowing of vessels), arteriovenous malformations, or blood clots. The scan provides high-resolution, cross-sectional images that help physicians assess stroke risk, evaluate symptoms like headaches or dizziness, or plan for surgeries and other treatments. Also, inform the doctor of any known allergies, especially to iodine-based contrast agents before the scan.

Depending on the area to be imaged, you may be asked to wear a hospital gown at the time of the scan.

Pregnant women should inform their doctor (and x-ray technician) as the radiations may affect the fetus. If needed, precautions can be taken to lower the radiation exposure to the fetus.

Get the blood urea and creatinine test done to evaluate kidney function and to ensure safety of contrast before taking up the procedure.
