Color Doppler Thoracic Aorta

A Color Doppler - Thoracic Aorta is an imaging technique that helps examine any defects or functional problems in the aorta, which is the largest artery in our body. This procedure helps detect aneurysm or ballooning, inflammation or injury of the aorta, congenital heart defects, peripheral artery disease, and severe chest pain. In this procedure, a dye is injected into the arteries to be viewed by an X-ray. The dye improves the visibility of the artery and enables proper identification of any blood flow abnormalities or defects in the aorta.

It is a painless procedure. Blood pressure and other vital signs are checked first. It is advised to fast for 6 to 12 hours before the procedure. A small quantity of water is allowed for taking medications.
