CECT Scan Both Sacro-Iliac (SI) Joints

A CECT Scan Both Sacro-Iliac (SI) Joints or Contrast Enhanced Computerized Tomography scan is a medical imaging method used to assess any injury or other problems at the SI joints (sacroiliac joints). This imaging procedure involves using rotating beams of x-rays after injecting contrast material to get detailed cross-section images of the SI joints (the triangular bone at the lower end of the spine and the left and right iliac bones of the pelvis). The images obtained by this method can help physicians to evaluate the proper functioning of the SI joints.
The use of ionizing radiation during this procedure may cause mild side effects like skin rash and itching. An abnormal result may indicate the risk of bone fractures, osteoporosis, and other deformities at the site of SI joints.
