CECT Scan Cervical Spine
Understanding CECT Scan Cervical Spine
What is CECT Scan Cervical Spine?
A CECT (Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography) Cervical Spine is an imaging technique that helps obtain clear images of the cervical spine. A CECT Cervical Spine is advised in case of severe neck pain, herniated disk, fractures, infection in the spine, or accidents involving the spine. A CECT Cervical Spine is important as it also helps measure bone density and determine any development of arthritis or osteoporosis.
A contrast material is injected that helps observe the cervical spine clearly. Rotating X-ray beams then capture a detailed, three-dimensional image of the spine. Please inform your doctor if you are pregnant to avoid harming the developing fetus. Inform your doctor if you are claustrophobic or suffer from diabetes or kidney disease
What is CECT Scan Cervical Spine used for?
- • To detect the cause of any unexplained neck pain or upper back pain • To detect fractures, inflammations, or infections in bones not visible on a simple X-ray • To detect and diagnose herniated disk, which is the commonest cause of severe back pain • To detect malformations or genetic defects during spinal development in children • To direct intervention procedures like fine needle biopsy • To detect any infection, injury or inflammation of the soft tissues like muscle, and ligaments of the spine • To diagnose any suspected infection, osteoporosis, deformities or abnormal growth of the bones and arthritis (inflammation of the joints)
