CECT Extremity

A CECT Extremity is a diagnostic imaging technique used to provide a detailed overview of the limbs. The detailed cross-sectional images of the extremities (hand and feet) obtained using contrast material help physicians evaluate various conditions such as degenerative changes due to aging, fractures, and cancer. This scan is also used to monitor the effectiveness of certain treatments such as blood clot treatment.

Some people may experience allergic reactions to the contrast material used during the procedure, which may cause minor problems like nausea, vomiting, irritation that are treatable within a few minutes. An abnormal CECT Extremity scan may indicate the presence of tumor, congenital birth defects, lack of bone density (osteoporosis) in the limb or appendage of the body, particularly the hands and feet.
