17p (TP53) Deletion - FFPE

Mutations in the TP53 gene are associated with the deletion of chromosome 17. This is indicative of poor prognosis in Multiple Myeloma (MM) cases. Del 17p/TP53 alterations are the most important prognostic and predictive markers for treatment decisions in CLL. This test uses FISH (Fluorescence in situ hybridization) technology to detect 17p deletion. FISH is a technique to detect specific DNA sequences in your body cells. Screening for 17p deletion in Multiple Myeloma cases aids management decisions & directs these high-risk patients toward alternative therapies. This deletion has also been detected in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) & is associated with poor prognosis.
